Father James Altman Picture

Fr. James Altman is an American priest whose outspokenness has earned him both passionate support from millions of Christians globally and undisguised contempt from the Catholic Left and their media supporters in the culture wars of the 2020’s. It’s worth a closer look at the sort of man who accepts, in his sixties, such an extraordinary cross in the crossfire of Catholic history in the making.

Father attended Lake Superior State University, while working shifts at US Steel’s warehouse. There, aptitude testing revealed he was best suited to two career paths: military and clergy. Over the ensuing decades, he vigorously pursued both higher education and a career in accounting, banking and law. His voracious appetite for learning fast-tracked him through law school, followed by two advanced seminary degrees and subsequently two more bachelor’s degrees in political science and philosophy.

Father’s first individual assignment was as a Chaplain at Assumption High School, where he flourished in an environment that strictly was Catholic. He thanks Joan Bond, Paul and Peg Klinkhammer, Jan Minarcin and all the teachers and staff whose Catholic Identity made it possible to teach Catholic Truth without pushback.

His first real parish assignment came nine months after Ordination, at Sts. Peter and Paul in Wisconsin Rapids, It was the most orthodox parish in a Diocese of 163 parishes. There he spent over eight years restoring and instilling even greater Catholic Tradition, such as celebrating The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass ad orientem, receiving the Holy Eucharist at the altar rail, kneeling and on the tongue, and establishing a magnificent choir with glorious sacred music. The record for altar boys at a single Holy Mass was 23, at the Easter Vigil.” He never wanted to leave his beloved parish family, but nevertheless got transferred to St. James the Less parish in La Crosse where the whole Covid abomination unfolded. It was there, through an unforeseeable set of circumstances, that Fr. Altman’s most well known homily made history – “You Cannot be a Catholic and be a Democrat” – and permanently changed the course of his work in Our Lord’s Vineyard.

The simple homemade video exploded onto the global stage, as millions imprisoned by Covid mandates were spellbound by the witness of this courageous mid-western priest. Father Altman went on to warn about the clear and present danger of the untested Covid vaccine, the ineffectuality of masking and distancing, and the denial of the Sacraments to countless tens of millions. After stating God’s Scriptural Truth – “Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, so you do not have to be anyone’s lab rat or guinea pig – you do NOT have to take the ‘jab,’” the blowback from the Godless left was immediate. The Bishop asked him to resign, accusing him of being “divisive.”

Ultimately, in response to all the diabolical forces in the hierarchy, Father quoted St. Peter and the Apostles who told the Sanhedrin hierarchy in their day: “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) He says, “we surely need not wonder why huge numbers of Catholics did not come back to Church after the bishops abused so many, betrayed and abandoned all of us, and locked us out of God’s Catholic Churches — even as big box stores, baby-butcheries and liquor stores stayed wide open.”

Here, in this book, is his attempt to share what the hierarchy has not: Catholic Treasures, the Truth handed down, unchanged and unchangeable, for 2,000 years.

Father urges Catholics not to leave the One True Faith, though we will be but a small remnant as many others follow the blind shepherds in schism from the unchangeable Truth. “The Catholic Church’s validity does not hinge upon the failings of its hierarchy. The Catholic Church is holy not because of the people but because of its Founder, Jesus Christ. So, keep the One True Faith no matter what.
The Saints and Martyrs herein teach us how.
